Description

Had to revise an old image I started a long time ago. This is a scene from a story I am working on. This version has way better lighting and better reflects the story. Here is a link to the first one.

Excerpt from the story:

Quasar could feel the room slowly decelerate. It rotated 180 degrees and came to a stop with a loud clunk. The door opened and she could see a dark hallway. The air in the room was so stale it made her choke. Quasar could hardly see a thing. She pulled the light stick out of her belt and held it aloft. Ahead she saw the hallway opened up into a much bigger room. It was around the same size as her father’s workshop.

Quasar saw several more glass bubbles in rows that went the length of the room. These bubbles were oval shaped and about nine feet in length. She entered the room to take a closer look.

Everything in the room was covered in a layer of dust. There were four aisles with bubbles leaned up against the walls and aisles at a 45 degree angle. All of the bubbles had lids and half of them were open. With all of the dust, she could tell that they had been empty for quite a while. She walked up to the nearest closed bubble. With her hand she wiped away a swath of dust. The contents of the bubble startled her and she quickly looked away. Quasar returned her gaze to the bubble to confirm what she saw. It was a mummified corpse. Its leathery skin was wrinkled and tight against its skull. She studied the face closely. What kind of creature is this, she thought. The skull had no recognizable features that she had ever seen. It was completely alien to her.

Quasar walked down the first three aisles. In each bubble she checked it was the same; an unusual corpse in a glass bubble. She rounded the corner to head down the last aisle. Up near the middle she saw a bubble that glowed and was devoid of dust. As she approached the bubble she noticed strange footprints in the dust on the floor and she stopped dead in her tracks. The hairs on her neck stood on end. Quasar waved the light around to get a better view of the room and saw nothing.

“Who is there?” Quasar cried.

Her voice echoed in the large room and she waited for an answer. She stood there for a moment listening for a noise in the silent room.

Quasar didn’t see anyone and she decided to move closer to the bubble. As she got closer, she noticed the bubble was filled with a blue light. The same unusual footprints covered the ground near the bubble. Visible through the glass was a body that looked like that of a young Lessosian and bore a striking resemblance to her older brother.

“Could it be Ogopogo,” she said, her voice echoing in the quiet room.
